I didn't much love this at its birthing from an icky womb [have you actually seen that mess - disgusting].  However, with the separation of a semester, I discovered I had a genuine fondness for this little bundle.  

It gave way to a realization that maybe Warhol was onto to something with the variations in color with his silk screens.  I'm not willing to define just pretty colors on a wall as great art [read: color field paintings], but I have some scaffolding into the ether of incorrect different aesthetics.

When they move, I generally start a new sketch. Drawing from potentially moving life forces me to draw faster because I never know when they will move. Even when people are asleep, they'll toss and turn some.

The paper (Strathmore Sketchbook) is first colored by using a mix of some cheapy gouache sometimes mixed with gesso. For these drawings, I used Pilot G-2 Gel pens.

Evidently, I have no clue what economy of lines means.

After reading Trish's email that the Arts Incubator was closing permanently, I just sat dumbfounded.  To sublimate, I went to paint and this lyric from The Dance Party - 'Lipstick' kept repeating in my head, " 'tious what the fuck man."

As the Arts Incubator withers away, I look to efflorescence, just months ago.  I’m trying to do so many things to prepare; I'm getting nowhere fast.  As my mind plans, curates, structures the next 14 chess moves, anxious whirlpools threaten.  On replay, I envision Scratchy's skeleton ripped out of his body: Itchy laughs, Scratchy dies.  It's a most uncomfortable kind of tension, a paradox of sensation: my outer body stationary and my marrow sprinting forward.  I often have this psuedo-agoraphobia before social events, which I don't really understand.  If I truly believe that painting can heal, then I should let it do so. 

So this was me, in the afternoon, sublimating my anxiety before my first First Friday.
